From that Health perspective, YFCA programs incorporate wider thematic interventions including WASH, Shelter, and Nutrition, Food Security, Agriculture and Livelihood, Education, Early Recovery and Protection. To pursue its unchanging humanitarian mission, YFCA will thoughtfully continue its expansion process to respond to the ever changing needs of affected communities and vulnerable groups.
Job Purpose
YFCA will implement a cholera response project with integrated health and WASH components in 3 districts of Aldhale’a governorate funded by UNICEF and is seeking for candidates for several positions in the project staff for management and implementation functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Water quality in Collective Shelters Water Points and Cholera Treatment Centers.
- Support Water Supply infrastructures assessment along with Wash Engineer.
- Document results of testing and refer abnormalities to PM and WASH & Shelter Coordinator.
- Become familiar with water quality standards and testing procedures.
- Check if the Hygienists in DTC do regular FRC monitoring and if they do that following standards.
- Provide or undertake water treatment and assist Hygiene Promoters to assess effectiveness of the intervention.
- Helping in the installation of Bucket chlorination points in the cholera intervention areas.
- Collect data / information about the water points and the lists of sample taken at water points and at HH up to date
- Collect water samples from all water points constructed or rehabilitated by YFCA.
- Collect water samples at lease from 5HH for each water point;
- Participate actively in feasibility study of wash need and impact assessment and/or pre and post implementation KAP survey;
- Participate during formation of water Committee;
- Input and up-date all data related with water quality and quantity for the water points and for HH.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
- Conduct physical, chemical and bacteriological test on regular bases at the beginning of construction and end of construction;
- Conduct Physical and bacteriological test regularly for 5 HH for each water point;
- Make some Analysis on the impact of rehabilitation/ construction of water points by comparing the results at HH and water points.
- Train and supervise the wash committee (WC) on how to keep the sanitation of water points.
- Support on draw up a planning of the WC work schedule according to assigned tasks.
- Provide technical support to the WC and CHV.
- Prepare weekly plan and weekly report and compile monthly report.
- Supervise the construction/rehabilitation of water points, institutional and house hold latrines during the absence of the supervisor and whenever assigned.
- Meet local stakeholders, keep them informed about the program;
- Act as a link between the organization and the beneficiaries;
- Liaise with the authorities, committees and other beneficiaries;
- Maintain good relations between the team and the target population.
- Bachelor degree in relevant discipline (preferably chemistry or environmental sciences).
- At least 3 years work experience in a relevant field.
- Good spoken and written ability in English and Arabic.
- Required Competence & Skills:
- Proven ability to organize activities and planning;
- Good report writing and interpersonal skills;
- Flexibility, dynamism and good organizational qualities;
- Computer literacy;
- Experience in WASH sector would be a distinct advantage;
- Good Knowledge of the project area and local dialect
