YFCA is a leading, Humanitarian, non-Governmental, non-Profit, non-denominational and impartial Organization established in 1976 to improve woman and child health.  Dramatic changes in YFCA mandate were introduced gradually to accommodate the emerging needs of women, children, youth and vulnerable groups.  From that Health perspective, YFCA programs incorporate wider thematic interventions including WASH, Shelter, and Nutrition, Food Security, Agriculture and Livelihood, Education, Early Recovery and Protection. To pursue its unchanging humanitarian mission, YFCA will thoughtfully continue its expansion process to respond to the ever-changing needs of affected communities and vulnerable groups.
Job Purpose:
The Nutrition Officer is responsible to Oversee the implementation of project activities in the nutrition project. She/he will be involved in training, supervising, and assisting nutrition field staff to ensure the best possible nutrition services are delivered to children U5, PLW. She/he will work in constant collaboration with Nutrition Associates and Project Coordinators. In addition to the Ministry of health staff, the DHO, other local authorities, and community members in order to share nutrition issues so as to improve/promote the nutrition of the vulnerable groups from the targeted communities.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the field supervisors’ team at the level of main office, Hubs and Governorates (Nutrition Associates and Governorate Coordinators) to ensure all children in the nutrition program receive preventive nutrition care and treatment in accordance with MoPHP Guidelines, including being weighed, measured, registered and referred correctly and receive food/treatment according to the national protocol.
  • Monitor, plan and guide the activities of the nutrition group and working demonstration under the supervision of the project manager.
  • Participate and monitor the main office, Hubs and Governorates level planning by coordinating meetings and receive reports in timely manner.
  • Supervise nutrition activities in the supported communities offering CMAM Package (OTP, TSFP, BSFP and awareness-raising activities particularly on infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and hygiene practices.
  • Provide supportive supervision visits for TSFP and BSFP activities with coordination with MOPHP.
  • Support regular technical field visits to TSFP and BSFP sites, to ensure the proper identification of malnutrition cases through screening for children 6-59 months, pregnant and lactating women and referral to nearest mobile clinics, and follow-up on defaulters, and ensure proper registration and admission/discharge of TSFP patients including ongoing monitoring on patients.
  • In collaboration with MoPHP, organize trainings for health workers, CHVs and to provide on the job support for both TSFP and BSFP activities.
  • Coordinate all logistics, admin and financial, operation requirements with the all-project teams at level of main office, Hubs and Governorate.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and Quarterly progress reports and statistic reports for submission to the Project Manager.
  • Train and support the nutrition team in technical and managing field work (food tracking documents, ration cards and registration books, other needed capacity building).
  • Report any problems in a timely manner to the project manager.
  • Ensure timely reporting of activities to project manager, donor and nutrition clusters in accordance with set deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicines or any other relevant field.
  • Two years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience working for NGO.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Strong English and Arabic skills, written and spoken.
  • Professional knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint…etc.).
  • Strong understanding of community development and participatory approaches.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to lead and work effectively with others to achieve results.
