From that Health perspective, YFCA programs incorporate wider thematic interventions including WASH, Shelter, and Nutrition, Food Security, Agriculture and Livelihood, Education, Early Recovery and Protection. Job Purpose:
The Protection Officer will be supervised by the Project Manager/ Shelter, CCCM & Protection Program Manager. The officer coordinates and implements protection activities in the targeted areas. The protection officer will plan, implement, monitor, and document all protection activities under YFCA. She/he will be responsible for day-to-day protection implementation activities. The protection officer will also work closely with the case workers, and protection monitors to produce monthly, weekly and daily reports.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning and direct implementation of protection activities including community training, registrations, and monitoring of the activities of protection projects.
- Responsible for the implementation of the GBV/CP support interventions in targeted areas and ensuring timely referral pathways and adequate responses are provided.
- Conduct capacity building for community-based protection groups to support protection activities implementation and awareness-raising activities in the area.
- Monitoring and supporting protection monitor on the data collection process.
- Responsible for timely and effective provision of Community Based Protection services within their areas of project operation.
- Contribute to evidence-based programming through protection monitoring data as well as improved access to Gender Based Violence and child protection services to girls, women, boys and men that are at risk of GBV and child rights violations both in IDPs and host communities.
- Conducting culturally appropriate training on GBV prevention and response and Child Protection for key stakeholders and ensuring direct protection messaging will be provided to targeted community leaders, women, and children through psychosocial support (PSS) activities.
- Ensure the filling system for the case management forms and ensure that they are in a well-organized manner.
- Field visit, monitor, report and cooperate with the Protection cluster and other partners during the project cycle.
- Other relevant duties as directed by your direct supervisor.
- Monitoring and Reporting.
- Prepare monthly individual work plans, with the input of your supervisor will serve as guidelines for implementation.
- Continuously monitor implementation of protection activities and report on progress, and challenges and recommend solutions.
- Participate in all relevant meetings, workshops, seminars and training as directed and provide feedback.
Assessment and Project Design:
- Participates in the protection assessments including needs, and service providers.
- Carries out protection data collection as required.
- Participate in the assessment and selection of all sites.
Planning and Implementation:
- Liaises with the Project manager to plan and implement activities in the field.
- Suggest new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities in the field.
- Works with and supervises partners, contractors, suppliers, construction workers etc. on engineering aspects of the activities.
- Responds to and records beneficiary and Shelter technical/hardware feedback and complaints at field level.
- Prepares and shares with the supervisor weekly implementation plans.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning:
- Monitor and report on the protection activities in the field ensuring there is compliance with plans and the organization’s standards and cluster guidelines.
- Report all gender and protection-related concerns to the Shelter engineer or the gender focal persons.
- Prepares and shares all relevant Shelter engineering field reports and documents as required.
- Ensure that Shelter infrastructure construction and rehabilitation works are carried out according to BOQs, drawings, and quality standards established by the organization through quality checklists.
Coordination and Representation:
- Works to mobilize communities and community leaders for the selection of locations
- Engaged in the local community.
- Organize and coordinate meetings on referral issues when required.
- Support the protection team in communication with district and local authorities about protection service providers' assessment.
Training, Capacity Building and Other Duties:
- Participate and lead in developing training material for community-based project construction, monitoring and maintenance
- Conduct sessions with the project technical staff to discuss the needs, and community participation and to ensure quality construction work.
- Provide support and training to community volunteers, members of the targeted committees, YFCA’s staff, beneficiaries, and governmental staff on protection mainstreaming and other related topics
- Organize regular meetings with Community Volunteers
- Identify trainings needs and get regular feedbacks from the field.
- Share information to relevant clusters, working groups and other NGOs.
Safeguarding:
- Read, understand, and adhere to the organization’s Safeguarding Policy, sign the organization’s Code of Conduct, and strive to promote a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination, harassment, and abuse in all working environments.
- Report any concerns about the well-being of a child or vulnerable person and report any concerns about the behaviour of the organization’s representative in relation to safeguarding.
Qualifications & Experiences:
- University degree in Law, Psychology, Sociology or a relevant field with 2 years of experience in a similar role with progressive responsibility.
- Experience at preparing various protection-related reports.
- Knowledge and understanding of community issue management.
- Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems.
- Ability to explain design ideas and plans clearly.
- Willing and capable of adopting a questioning attitude.
- Good level of English language both spoken and writing
- Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts.
- NGO or humanitarian work experience.
