Project Manager

Terms of Reference
 
Division               : Programs.
Location               : Sana’a with frequent visits to the project sites.
Reports to          : Health & Nutrition Program Manager.

Organization & Background:
YFCA is a leading, Humanitarian, non-Governmental, non-Profit, non-denominational and impartial Organization established in 1976 to improve woman and child health.  Dramatic changes in YFCA mandate were introduced gradually to accommodate the emerging needs of women, children, youth and vulnerable groups.  From that Health perspective, YFCA programs incorporate wider thematic interventions including WASH, Shelter, and Nutrition, Food Security, Agriculture and Livelihood, Education, Early Recovery and Protection. To pursue its unchanging humanitarian mission, YFCA will thoughtfully continue its expansion process to respond to the ever-changing needs of affected communities and vulnerable groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee the implementation of project activities to ensure high-quality and timely results.
  • Conduct rapid assessments to determine priority activities based on the needs of the community.
  • Coordinate with both public and private hospitals and centers to facilitate the referral and treatment of emergency and elective cases.
  • Manage, guide, and supervise the project staff.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to effectively manage the project budget.
  • Supervise a public health education campaign aimed at informing the target populations about important health messages.
  • Identify the training needs of national partners involved in primary healthcare service provision and assist in organizing training programs.
  • Ensure a consistent supply of essential consumables to the designated health facilities.
  • Manage the provision of drugs for patients with chronic illnesses and mental health conditions.
  • Provide direction and support to the project team.
  • Continuously monitor and follow up on the implementation of project activities.
  • Develop weekly and monthly work plans to achieve the program's objectives.
  • Participate in Medical Referral Committee (MRC) meetings.
  • Attend weekly meetings with health facilities' managers.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
 
Technical Support:
  • Assist the logistics department in procuring drugs, medical supplies, and equipment by providing specifications for requested items.
  • Regularly supervise supported facilities, including data collection and record-keeping of beneficiaries and program activities.
  • Organize and conduct joint multifunctional team monitoring visits.
  • Monitor program implementation and ensure accurate and timely data collection.
  • Foster linkages and integration between community mobilization activities and health facility services.
  • Maintain program files.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in medicine.
  • Possess a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience in health programs is preferred.
  • Prior experience working for an NGO is desirable.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to senior managers' inquiries.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic skills. Ability to write reports in English is required.
