Organization & Background:
YFCA is a leading, Humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit, non-denominational, and impartial Organization established in 1976 to improve women's and children's health.  Dramatic changes in the YFCA mandate were introduced gradually to accommodate the emerging needs of women, children, youth, and vulnerable groups.  From that Health perspective, YFCA programs incorporate wider thematic interventions including WASH, Shelter, and Nutrition, Food Security, Agriculture and Livelihood, Education, Early Recovery, and Protection. To pursue its unchanging humanitarian mission, YFCA will thoughtfully continue its expansion process to respond to the ever-changing needs of affected communities and vulnerable groups.
 
Role Purpose:
The Database Management Officer will be responsible for the effective management and maintenance of project-related databases. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and security of project data, as well as supporting data analysis and reporting. The officer will work closely with the project team to understand their data needs and provide technical expertise in database management.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Database Design and Implementation:
  • Designing and implementing project-specific databases to meet the data management requirements of the project.
  • Collaborating with the project team to identify data collection needs and develop appropriate database structures.
  • Ensuring the integrity, security, and availability of project databases through regular backups, updates, and disaster recovery plans.
 
Data Collection and Entry:
  • Collaborating with the project team to develop data collection tools and protocols tailored to the project's objectives.
  • Training and supporting project staff members on data collection and entry procedures.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate data entry into the project databases.
 
Data Quality Assurance:
  • Developing and implementing data quality control measures specific to the project.
  • Conducting regular data quality assessments and addressing any identified issues.
  • Collaborating with the project team to establish data validation mechanisms.
 
Reporting and Analysis:
  • Supporting the generation of regular and ad hoc reports from the project databases.
  • Assisting in data analysis and interpretation to inform Project Manager.
  • Developing data visualization tools and dashboards.
 
Capacity Building and Training:
  • Providing training and technical support to project staff members on database management best practices.
  • Promoting data literacy within the project team and facilitating knowledge sharing on data management techniques.
 
Data Protection and Privacy:
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations for project-related data.
  • Implementing security measures to safeguard sensitive project data from unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of data protection policies and procedures specific to the project.
 
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. A master's degree is desirable.
  • Proven experience in database administration and management, preferably in projects within NGOs.
  • Work experience in FSL projects is preferable.
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, including data modelling, normalization, and indexing.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Professional knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint…etc.).
  • Strong English and Arabic skills, written and spoken.
  • Ability to write reports in English is required
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Understanding of data protection regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
