Project Officer - Aden

Location: Aden.
Reports to: FSL Program Manager.
 
Organization & Background:
 
A humanitarian, independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization that works across Yemen. The organization provides direct assistance for conflict-affected populations, IDPs, host communities and vulnerable groups in the conflict areas. The organization, in partnership with international agencies, takes action during crisis situations in order to alleviate the sufferings of the most vulnerable groups. The organization promotes durable solutions for conflict-affected populations and helps to restore services, education, economic, wellbeing and health.
 
Job Purpose:
The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project in accordance with the project goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
 
  Project Planning and Design:
 
  • Assist in the development of project plans, including objectives, activities, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Contribute to the design and development of project strategies and approaches.
  • Support the identification and selection of project partners and stakeholders.
 
  Project Implementation:
 
  • Coordinate and monitor the execution of project activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
  • Manage project documentation, including progress reports, budgets, and work plans.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
  • organizing and conducting project meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Contribute to the identification and resolution of project issues and risks.
 
  Monitoring and Evaluation:
 
  • Support the development and implementation of project monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Collect and analyze project data and information, and contribute to project performance reports.
  • Participate in project monitoring visits and assessments, and assist in the documentation of findings and recommendations.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and knowledge sharing activities to improve project effectiveness.
 
  Financial and Administrative Management:
 
  • Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and procedures.
  • Monitor project expenditures and assist in the preparation of financial reports.
  • Support procurement processes, including vendor selection, contract management, and procurement documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining project files and records, ensuring proper documentation and archiving.
 
  Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
 
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with project stakeholders, including partners, beneficiaries, and relevant government entities.
  • Support the development and implementation of project communication strategies and plans.
  • Assist in the production of project communication materials, such as reports, presentations, and success stories.
 
  Reporting:
 
The Project Officer will report to the project donor and provide regular updates on project activities, progress, and challenges.
 
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., project management, international development, social sciences).
  • Proven experience in project coordination or management, preferably in the development sector.
  • Knowledge of project cycle management principles and tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Knowledge of [relevant technical skills or is an advantage.
