YFCA is a leading, Humanitarian, non-Governmental, non-Profit, non-denominational and impartial Organization established in 1976 to improve woman and child health.  Dramatic changes in YFCA mandate were introduced gradually to accommodate the emerging needs of women, children, youth and vulnerable groups.  From that Health perspective, YFCA programs incorporate wider thematic interventions including WASH, Shelter, and Nutrition, Food Security, Agriculture and Livelihood, Education, Early Recovery and Protection. To pursue its unchanging humanitarian mission, YFCA will thoughtfully continue its expansion process to respond to the ever-changing needs of affected communities and vulnerable groups.
 
Job Purpose:
The SMC Assistant will be responsible for partner coordination and service monitoring, community participation and representation, communication with communities and accountability, participation in information management of the sites through conducting regular data collection, including on service availability and standards in the sites, submitting timely and accurate reports and data, participation in assessment and data collection exercises as needed and most importantly he/she will ensure to mainstream protection in all aspects of the implemented activities.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
 

  • Support coordination with all humanitarian partners and stakeholders working in the sites, on a day-to-day basis.
  • Monitor service provision at site level using agreed tools, including through observation, conducting assessment, and collecting input from community members. Record and report data in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Organize regular meetings with community groups and committees, ensuring participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups, taking minutes of meetings and attendance sheets.
  • Support organization of trainings to community committees, humanitarian agencies, and community members.
  • Conduct Communications with Communities activities in the sites, including regular outreach to the community and information campaigns, supported by daily workers as needed.
  • Consider gender, protection, and GBV concerns in all aspects of activities.
  • Promote participation and representation of women, youth, people with specific needs, and marginalized groups in all SMC activities.
  • Support vulnerable persons including through referral to protection partners, and support vulnerable persons at specific events (e.g., distributions, registration).
  • Ensure confidentiality is respected in all activities.
  • Support site assessment and committee formation.
  • Timely reporting of problems and challenges in the sites to CCCM Officer/Coordinator.
  • Timely reporting of security and safety incidents or risks to SMC Coordinator.
  • Any additional task as requested by the line manager.
 
Qualifications and Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relative field.
  • Experience in Shelter intervention.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Proven skills in building relationships with the community leaders, local, and national levels
  • Good conceptual understanding of gender, protection, and human rights
  • Excellent representation, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong team spirit and ability to work comfortably in multi-cultural contexts
  • Good skills with basic software, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to write reports and situational briefings.
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time in field condition.
