To pursue its unchanging humanitarian mission, YFCA will thoughtfully continue its expansion process to respond to the ever-changing needs of affected communities and vulnerable groups.
Job Purpose:
The Field Engineer Assistant is responsible for supporting the technical team in the implementation and rehabilitation projects and providing technical training for beneficiaries. Also, support in the identification, design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on the progress of shelter rehabilitation and other facilities projects in the assigned districts. S/he is Responsible for day-to-day field management, supervision, and provision of regular technical backstopping to Shelter and Community projects in addition to the provision of needed technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
REQUIRED DUTIES:
- Collaborate and coordinate with partners, NGOs (national and international), government authorities, local communities, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Provide construction quality control based on project BOQs & procedure and draft QC/QA report weekly, including the recommendation of improvements and any other needed reports of the program management.
- Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at maintenance & upgrade sites to ensure proper implementation is being carried out.
- Supervise the skilled/unskilled workers for the improvement of works or remedial measures to take.
- Interact with the beneficiary community and provide guidance on the repair and maintenance of damaged shelters.
- Draft weekly activity reports including progress control for the completion of shelter project.
- Based on field monitoring, provide lessons learned for all ongoing field activities.
- Regularly update the Shelter specialist, project manager, and Program Manager.
- Keeping track of the movement of materials within the store.
- Identify general achievement of fieldwork and attendance of workers and submitted them all to the project assistant or management of the project.
- Provide advice to workers to ensure achievements in a timely manner complying with technical criteria
- Any other duties requested by supervisor.
REPORTS AND DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:
- Achievements reports on a daily and weekly basis, under the supervision and the guidelines of project assistant and project management.
- Documenting the project (Reports + pictures and video), in order to show the mechanism of the program, strictly respecting the Code of Conduct as well as the Humanitarian Principles and Standards.
- Gather construction work information and edit the work plan report every week.
- Ensure the correct gathering of the GPS points of sites of intervention, to be provided to database assistant.
- Report, in a timely manner, any issues causing a change or delay to the planned work.
- Draft any additional reports, forms, or documents asked by the project management.
GENERAL
- Report and clarify any work-related issues and challenges to supervisor/line manager in a timely manner.
- Respect deadlines, attend meetings, and other reasonable requests coming from the management.
- Maintain a good team spirit amongst staff and colleagues.
- Commit to honesty, high-quality work in the field.
- Undertake any other tasks as reasonably assigned by management.
- Consider safety and security in the field, immediately report all incidents to the Security Focal Point.
