“For five years, my only desire is to have a baby” Bara’a Bitterly mentioned

This story was reported from The Emergency Obstetric HC in Damt district of Aldhala’a.

The Emergency Obstetric Health Center is located in Damt district of Aldhala’a governorate. It provides various maternal and newborn and RH services (Antenatal care, postnatal care, family planning, normal delivery, and C section). These services are available to the community by YFCA operational implementation and UNFPA fund. The services aim to take more effective measures to address maternal and infant mortality. As well as to reduce people's suffering, potential deaths during childbirth, and malformations of fetuses. Moreover, The Emergency Obstetric HC serves around 4200, 12726 and 35977 individuals in zone one, two and three respectively.

Bara’a Abdo, 22 years old, has been married for five years, however, she has not had children yet. Following cultural-based approaches, Bara’a tried many traditional methodologies to get pregnant and visited several clinics, hoping that what she wanted would come true and become pregnant but to no avail.
She was totally despaired when her husband told her that he had heard about the Emergency Obstetric HC as they can solve their issue there. “We should not give up” her husband said optimistically. At first, the doctor took their medical history in detail and did the required tests. The final diagnosis showed that Bara’a suffers from infections and also cysts in the ovaries. Therefore, she was deprived of getting pregnant. The doctor prescribed for her the necessary medicine for her case and asked her to revisit the HC after a month and kept following up with her for three months after.
Five months later, Bara’a became pregnant, she could not be more grateful. Now, she is at the end of her pregnancy ninth month and she is suffering from labor pains and she gave birth naturally at the same HC.
“I am really grateful for the intensive care that I received, and I did not expect the great level of care and service that they provide to all patients,”  Baraa stated.
