Amani Qassim is 35 years old pregnant woman in her fifth month of pregnancy. A year from now, Amani got an abortion in her last pregnancy, and she wasn’t aware of the reason for this. Meanwhile, she hasn’t the hospital due to their hard-living conditions, as they can’t afford their minimum life needs. In her current pregnancy, Amani felt unenergetic and pallor and she felt the anxiety of losing her baby again.
Her neighbor told her about Mudhaykhyrah obstetric emergency Hospital, as it considers the only governmental point for RH services that afford free medical care. It locates in the Mudhaykhyrah district of Ibb government. Mudhaykhyrah Hospital provides various maternal, newborn and RH services (Antenatal care, postnatal care, family planning and normal delivery). This hospital got functioned by the fund of UNFPA through YFCA as implementing partner.
Amani reached Muthaykhyrah hospital suffering from Fatigue, weakness, insomnia and swelling in her feet. After applying for her clinical examination and ultrasound scan, the fetus was in a healthy status in terms of fluids, pulse, and placenta positioning. However, the movement of the child was weak. On the other hand, her blood pressure was measured to show a low hypertension status. Besides, laboratory tests were done for her which revealed that she suffered from anemia with a blood percentage of 8. It is worth mentioning that the sequences of the persistent of this situation may put the mother and her baby at a high health risk.
The doctor prescribed the necessary treatment for her, advised her to rest, and kept regular follow-ups to avoid any complications for her status. Amani came a month after her first visit, and her pallor had faded. Laboratory tests were repeated for her to ensure her blood percentage, which rose to 10. Consequently, the doctor advised her to keep taking iron tablets. When she completed her ninth month, Amani came back to the hospital suffering from childbirth pain and her blood percentage was 11.5. Fortunately, she gave birth naturally, and her fetus was in a good health. “I hope that every woman has access to high-quality care services near her residential area,” she said gratefully. “We are thrilled about what have done in order to Amani and her child in a good health” Amani’s husband mentioned.
