YFCA Launches BRIGHTLY Project

- Sunday, 17 September, 2023

Kickoff meetings were recently conducted in Shabwah and Al-Dhale'e districts to inaugurate the BRIGHTLY project, which aims to provide assistance to Yemeni families in need. The project is generously funded by the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth, & Development Office) and implemented by the YFCA in Yemen.

On the 13th of this month, the kickoff meeting took place in Shabwah, while the meeting in Al-Dhale'e was held on the 17th. These meetings brought together the project team and key stakeholders, facilitating discussions on the project's objectives, activities, and anticipated outcomes. The primary purpose of these gatherings was to foster a robust partnership and collaboration among all parties involved in the project.

The BRIGHTLY project will provide humanitarian assistance and improve food security, resilience, and self-reliance for vulnerable households in Yemen. The project will provide cash assistance to meet immediate needs and nutrition support to ensure sufficient food intake. The project will also empower families through income-generating activities and market-strengthening interventions, enabling them to increase their livelihoods and resilience.

The project will pay special attention to the needs of marginalized groups, such as women, girls, people living with disabilities, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). The project will provide targeted support to female-headed, child-headed, and elderly-headed households, as well as farmers and pastoralists. Moreover, the project will establish up to 2 Village Saving Groups, empowering women to make decisions and invest in their own businesses.

The BRIGHTLY project is a reflection of YFCA’s commitment to creating sustainable change and improving the lives of Yemeni families. YFCA expresses its gratitude to FCDO for their generous funding, which enables them to make a tangible difference on the ground.
