YFCA has supplied 9,000 liters of fuel (diesel) to operate the main water supply system in Damt district of Al-Dhale governorate. This system relies on Al-Awmarah well, which is currently the only functional well in the district, as the other wells have either ceased operations or sustained damaged due to various reasons. This activity is part of the project “Provision of emergency, life-saving and resilient WASH assistance for the most acutely vulnerable IDPs and host communities including PWDs”, which is funded by YHF
The aim of this activity is to provide sustainable, safe drinking and domestic water for 32,917 beneficiaries, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and persons with disabilities (PWDs), who depend on rehabilitated and repaired water supply systems. YFCA has delivered 9,000 liters of fuel in three installments to the well’s location and operated the well for three months, spanning from May to August 2023. During this period, the well has produced 13,835.5 cubic meters of water, which has been distributed among approximately 9,750 individuals residing in the district.
The beneficiaries have expressed their gratitude toward YFCA for ensuring their access to clean and safe water, thereby improving their health and well-being. They have also acknowledged that the project has enhanced their awareness and knowledge regarding water conservation practices and hygiene.
YFCA’s intervention not only meets the urgent water needs of the beneficiaries but also supports the resilience and recovery of the conflict-affected communities. YFCA remains committed to empowering the people of Yemen, enabling them to overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
