Training Workshop about HIV/AIDS for caregivers in Hajja

It was mentioned in the training workshop that there are 150,000 cases affected by the HIV/AIDS in Yemen annually. The trainees were introduced to skills and methods to deal with HIV/AIDS affected people and ways to raise community awareness in emergencies.

Mr. Khaled Al-Nadheri, Deputy of Director in the Health Office of MoPH&P stated the importance of the partnership between the official authorities and civil society organizations especially in emergencies; he hailed the work of YFCA in delivering quality projects.

The community midwives plays a pivotal role in raising community awareness about the Reproductive Health in Emergencies amongst targeted women.

Dr. Fares Al-Waeel, YFCA Project Manager of Enhancement of the Reproductive Health for IDPs and Affected Communities Project stated that this training workshop is part of training series aim to capacitate the caregivers in the targeted areas with the skills to provide Reproductive Health services. He confirmed that YFCA has a follow-up program to monitor the trainees after the training to ensure high quality of services provided by them and provide the technical support if needed. In addition, to provide the health centers with the necessary medications of HIV/AIDS. He emphasized the required joint efforts between official authorities and CSOs to provide high quality of Reproductive Health services to communities.

Mr. Ahmad Al-Adbaei, YFCA project coordinator in Hajjah, said that YFCA strives to continuously capacitate the caregivers with the needed skills and knowledge to enhance the health services provided and reduce the risk of transmission of infections. He concluded that the community midwives plays a pivotal role in boosting awareness especially in the remote and underserved areas.
