A midwives training workshop for reproductive health provision in Hodeida concluded

Mr. Hashem Al-Azazi, Deputy Governor of Hodeida, stated that the reproductive health is an integrated part of the social security and basic health. He added that the family planning, birth spacing and providing health care for the pregnant mothers are key factors to maintain the health of mother and child; and to the improvement of the community.

Mr. Abdulmalik Al-Alawi, the representative of YFCA, stated that the objectives of this workshop are to enhance the skills of caregivers on reproductive health, early marriage, counseling, family planning, safe motherhood and maternity care.

He added that this workshop is conducted as part of the activities of the Enhancement of the Reproductive Health Services project which aims to improve the quality of the reproductive health services for women and children; and reach out on health issues in Al-Sakhna district, Hodeida governorate.

Mr. Al-Alawi concluded that this project consists of three central components. First component: Provide the reproductive health via a mobile clinic, conduct a three-day refreshment training of reproductive health for 20 midwives and caregivers; and conduct a practical training to install and remove Intrauterine Devices (IUDs) for 20 midwives. Second component: Support the medical facilities by conducting several activities. Third component: Medical awareness via series of sessions and trainings.
