Family-planning training programs for social workers

Mr. Fares Al-Waeel, Manager of Reproductive Health Component at YFCA, stated that these programs are within the activities of behavioral change of family planning and HIV as part of the social marketing implemented by Yaman Health and Social Development and other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs); the program includes conducting 10 workshops for social workers and subsequently those social workers to conduct 400 sessions in their respective schools.

Each workshop targets 20 social workers who are staff in secondary schools in the targeted districts in the ten governorates with the average of 4-5 districts in each governorate; those schools were selected in coordination with Ministry of education (MoE) offices in the respective governorates.

Mr. Al-Waeel added that those workshops will focus to train the social workers about the communications of the family planning and reproductive health messages to others.

He also added that the second phase of the program will include conducting 40 live awareness sessions about family planning.
