Inauguration of seminar series about Family Planning methods

The Executive Director of YFCA Mr. Nabil Al-Ammari stated that these activities reflect how YFCA strives to enhance the community awareness about the reproductive health and family planning issues ; and assisting to reduce the mortality rate of mothers and infants ; and the high population growth rate in the country.

He added that these seminar series will be conducted by religious actors and preachers in 14 governorates (Sana’a, Dhamar, Aden, Amran, Lahj, Abyan, Hadhramout, Hodeida, Hajja, Marib, Taiz, Ibb, Mahweet and Sana’a Capital Secretary), the seminar series target men in age brackets of 20-45. The seminars’ agenda will include subjects about the Islam perceptions towards using family planning methods.

In the other hand, the health awareness seminars will be conducted by qualified female doctors and midwives in 7 governorates (Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Amran, Hodeida, Marib and Hadhramout) targeting women in age brackets of 18-38 and men in age brackets of 20-45. The seminar’s agenda will include subjects about the population growth rate of Yemen comparing to other countries, statistics of mortality of children and mothers, family planning methods, the effects of recurrent pregnancy and early marriage.

From her part, Ms. Sina Al-Khwja, the activity coordinator at YFCA spotlighted on the importance of the religious and health seminar series in enhancing the community awareness about the issues of family planning.

She added that such seminar series are pivotal to spread impact awareness about the using of family planning methods and clear any misconceptions within communities. She added that YFCA, in cooperation with Yaman Health Development and other authorities strive to enhance the community awareness about reproductive health and family planning to assist to reduce the mortality of mothers and children.

YFCA determines to reach the less-aware sectors of society, marginalized and remote-area villagers.   She concluded that the family planning materials of the religious and health seminar series were developed in accordance with the accredited materials of Government of Yemen (GoY) Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP)and Ministry of Endowment and Guidance (MoEG).
