A Training Session in Family Planning Counseling was conducted for Community Midwives of Hajja Governorates

Dr. Fares Al-Waeel, YFCA Surveillance and Relief in-charge stated that this theoretical/practical training session targeted 15 community midwives working in different district of Hajja governorate. Most of those midwives are working in health centers which do not provide IUDs insertion and removal services.

Dr. Al-Waeel clarified that this training aimed to capacitate community midwives to deliver quality services, reduce the morbidity and mortality of pregnant women, training on insertion and removal IUDs, family planning counseling and prevent and control infection when inserting and removal IUDs. 

Dr. Al-Waeel added that three more similar training sessions will be conducted during the first quarter of 2014 which will target 45 midwives from different districts of Hajja governorate.

The community midwives participated in this training will attend a subsequent practical training in the YFCA Reproductive Health Centre, each midwife will be assigned to insert 10 IUDs and remove at least 2 IUDs in a period of 7 days.

Dr. Al-Waeel concluded that he hopes that those community midwives will maximize using the knowledge they got in this training to provide high quality reproductive health and family planning services in their respective health centers in the different districts.
