YFCA in cooperation with UNFPA has conducted a training workshop for Caricaturists and Fine Artists about gender-based violence (GBV), 25 caricaturists and fine artists participated in this workshop are from a number of governorates of the Republic of Yemen. The aim of this training workshop is to enhance the community awareness of GBV through some creative methods that include caricatures, fine arts and graffiti.
The executive director of YFCA Mr. Nabil Al-Ammari said that this workshop comes within the framework of activities of the 16-days campaign to address GBV which is implemented by YFCA and funded by UNFPA in some governorates of the republic from Nov 25 till Dec 10, 2013 which coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women that was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations, under the slogan " From peace in the home to peace in the world " to oppose all forms of violence against women .
Mr. Al-Ammari added that the activities of the campaign include many of the events and activities that will be implemented in a number of governorates of the Republic (Sana'a , Aden , Lahej , Abyan , Hajjah , Sa'ada , Ibb and Amran ).
The activities will include live broadcasting programs via Sana’a Radio, develop 10 radio flashes for the decision-makers and broadcast them via the local radio stations, develop 12 radio programs for 30 minutes each during the days of the campaign, produce a bulletin, working on graffiti in a number of governorates, conduct 120 live seminars for community actors (males/females) in Aden, Lahej, Abyan, Hajja, Amran, Sa’ada and Ibb, conducting Fine Arts gallery, community awareness via mobile cinema, open day at Al-Sabeen Park which include Fine Arts gallery for school students, cultural competitions, theatre and songs, in addition to caricature drawing, Fine Arts, graffiti to enhance the community awareness to address Women’s rights and oppose all forms of violence against women.
