Food insecurity in Yemen is driven by a combination of constrained food production, supply and distribution, households’ diminishing purchasing power, high food prices and significantly reduced household income, leading to low food access for vulnerable people. In response, Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) provided a fifth round of cash assistance to 285 targeted households in two districts of Shabwah Gov., with each beneficiary household receiving an amount of 123,500 Yemeni Rials. This activity is part of a project funded by the German Humanitarian Assistance (AA) in partnership with Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH), and aimed to ensure households in targeted communities are better able to meet their basic food needs through cash assistance, leverage food assistance to vulnerable groups to promote early action and response, and bridge gaps in food security.
