An executive committee for the Independent Women Network (Win) elected

In the presence of representatives from the ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the General Assembly of the Independent Women Network (Win) held a public meeting yesterday evening in the capital Sanaa to elect an executive committee. Amongst participants were the president of the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Commission (SNACC) Judge Afrah Badwaylan, the president of the CSO sector at SNACC Noor Ba’abad, and members from Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA), Responsive Governance Project (RGP) and some female members of National Dialogue Conference (NDC). The results of the election witnessed the winning of Fatima Mashahous as president of the network, Najwa Alaadh as vice president, Nabila Al-Aqil as Secretary General, Eman Shaif as legal advisor, Intesar Shaif as financial assistant and Raghda Jamal as media assistant, in addition, the election resulted in the winning of Nellie Nagy , Amal Maknoon , Entesar Sinan as members in the auditing committee. At the beginning of the meeting, which was held under the slogan of strengthening the role of independent women in building a new Yemen, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Mr. Ali Saleh Abdullah stressed in his speech that Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Yemen has achieved a significant progress in terms of quantity and quality. He pointed out that the CSOs in Yemen, through their accumulate experience, and helped enhance the community works and overcome the challenges stand in its way. He added that the international community looks into CSOs operating in Yemen with great admiration for the evolution and the accumulation of experience. He praised the establishment of the Independent Women Network (Win), saying that the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor can use the expertise of the network in re-drafting the NGO law and its implementing regulations in Yemen taking in account the development in Yemen and in the world.
