The morning of Thursday, May 12th, 2022 was an optimistic day to Damt district residents who woke up to see the heaps of garbage around their district urgently started to be removed. They have unfortunately forgotten that being surrounded by healthy environment is an absolute right of any human due to the current situation in Yemen. The current situation which drives many people to be displaced from their homes and lives to almost have primitive lives.

As a result, implemented by the YFCA and with the cooperation of the Hygiene and Improvement Fund in Damt District, wide cleaning campaigns was inaugurated by the governor of Aldhale’e Gov, Mr. Abdullatif Al-Shaghdari, with the presence of the general director of the Hygiene and Improvement Fund in the governorate, Mr. Saleh Al-Sha'afli, of Damt district cooperated to fulfil this mission. Twenty cleaning workers were nominated by the Hygiene and Improvement Fund to participate in the cleaning campaigns. They were entirely provided with the essential tools, fuel as well as cleaning workers motivated by YFCA. 

The cleaning workers conducted the first cleaning campaign on three followed days on which they removed around 500 tons and will be holding the coming campaigns on two to three days per month for 7 months in targeted areas. Consequently, people of the district reflected their joy towards the implemented activity because they will get rid of the contaminated environment which led to outbreak diseases such as malaria, cholera, diarrhea...etc.
