Youth Development Center Project

Youth Development Center Project (YDC)

A project that was implemented and funded jointly by the German Government (BMZ) and YFCA where a well-equipped Center was established to provide educational and awareness information on RH/FP and population issues .
Project Objectives:
- Improving the knowledge of youth on reproductive health issues.
- Enhancing Youth access to RH/STDs information.
- Developing the capacities of youth and qualifying them in different fields, most importantly Computer, Internet, English Language…etc.
 
Project Duration: 2003 - 2004 (Continuous)
Project Activities:
- Establishing a center for youth in a well located place in Sana’a.
- Equipping Youth Center with training equipments such as PCs, data show, audio  
 visuals, sewing machines, and sports instruments.
- Conducting 176 awareness sessions targeting 1800 young men and women

Although the project period was quite short, YCD and post to project closing date, has been operated and supervised by YFCA in a way that ensures providing sustainable and distinctive services respond to youth needs and develop their skills and capabilities.
On 2006, Youth National Committee was formed from volunteers in governorates where YFCA fixed RH centers exist, and the objectives of this committee are:
- To represent youth in the relevant agencies such as: Ministry of Youth & Sport, Scout Association and Democratic Social Forum.
- To develop a national plan on Reproductive Health issues for youth.
- To expand participation base of youth and allowing opportunities for them to take the right decisions regarding their Reproductive Health.
- To contribute to preparing and implementing youth-oriented RH programmes.
