ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Yemen Family Care Association is a non-government voluntary and non-profit organization. Established in 1976, YFCA has been catering for Yemeni families in Sana’a and governorates. YFCA provide its services in its specialized hospital in Sana’a in addition to six fixed reproductive health centers in  Sana’a, Aden, Hadramout, Hodaiddah, Ibb and Hajjah. YFCA have expanded its programs to the governorates of Saa’da, Lahjj, Abyan and Amran through its emergency services.

  1. Vision
    Population stability in which all segments of Yemeni society in particular women and children are able to access to health services of high quality.
  2. Mission
    YFCA is  dedicated to enhance the quality of life forYemeni women and children, and other communitygroups through programs of service provision,education, awareness-raising, capacity building, trainingand advocating issues related to those aspects in order to reach stabilize population in which all segments of society enjoy good health and well-being. YFCA believes in the legitimate right of women to plan and organize their own fertility, avoidance of unintended pregnancies and will continue the provision of reliable information to rural, remote, poor and marginalized areas.
    • Equality: Every family member in Yemen should have equal access to quality reproductive health services including education and counseling regardless of their sex, age, ethnicity or socioeconomic background.
    • Equity: YFCA believes in the importance of ensuring the accessibility and availability of services, information and reproductive rights for every member of the society as a legitimate and legal human rights. Thus, YFCA is eager to program for underprivileged and marginalized community groups especially in remote geographical areas.
    • Participation: YFCA considers that sustainable development could not be achieved without participation of all actors in the community. Therefore volunteerism as promoted by YFCA forms the core and spirit of participation and has been the value underlying many activities at community level.
  3. YFCA Governance
    ?YFCA has a governance system that is built on consensusoriented accountability and transparency.YFCA Governing Board formed through transparent elections by the General Assembly the highest governing authority. The GA  is formed now of about 200 members who are responsible for overall supervision of YFCA’s Governing Board and Executive Office performance. The YFCA elected GB consists of nine members, four of which are women, the Governing Board shall assume supervise the work of the Executive Office of the association where the Executive Director reports directly to the GB. Tools governing YFCA include YFCA structure. In its hierarchy ensures clear accountability lines and responsibilities. YFCA policies and procedures are continuously improved to enhance internal governance .

System implementation.

YFCA quality control procedures have been designed based on result based management principal to ensure the achievement of results and dynamic correction for any program performance faults on time if any. Annual, semiannual and activity reporting system generates regular data on the extent YFCA has achieved its strategic and annual goals. Close of year financial reporting covers financial aspects while audit reports are developed by third-party auditors on a yearly basis and assess adherence of YFCA to governance measures and donor conditions.

YFCA Staffing

YFCA mandate is realized on the ground by qualified and devoted staff and volunteers. While technical expertise and management skills were main criteria for recruitment of YFCA staff, they are constantly targeted with capacity building programs to develop their skills and update their technical background.
