Yemen's ongoing war has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis, including food insecurity and malnutrition. In response, Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) and World Food Program (WFP) implemented a nutrition project in Al-Husha district that provides therapeutic and blanket feeding for children and pregnant or lactating women, along with nutrition education for mothers and caregivers. Despite the project being forced to come to a halt in January 2023, community health volunteers (CHVs) in some villages refused to stop their work, ensuring that many children were able to maintain their nutritional status and prevent a relapse. The success of this project highlights the critical role that community health volunteers can play in addressing humanitarian crises.
