Internally Displaced People (IDPs) are confronted with a range of challenges, one of the most severe is the lack of sanitation facilities in their dwellings or camps. This absence of bathrooms puts children and their families at risk of different diseases, and deprives them of the security and privacy that are essential to have good health. IDPS’ EASE AND RELIEF Abdulrahman is a 45-years-old father of two, one girl and one boy. In 2018, due to the conflict in his hometown, he and his family had to move to the old Damt village in Damt district, Al-Dhale governorate to work as farmers. As they had to make living with whatever they could, they ended up in an abandoned and simple two-room house with a kitchen. Unfortunately, due to their extreme poverty, they did not have access to toilet facilities, like many other families in the village. Abdulrahman said “upon moving to Damt village and living in an old house, me and my family could not afford a suitable bathroom for defecation, thus having to relieve ourselves in the open air or near the house, this situation caused immense hardship for us, and increased the risk of health issues, especially for women and children.”
