Ibtisam Muhsin Abdullah, who is 17-year-old, is one of six sisters living in a rural community where illiteracy is widespread. Despite the hardships of the situation, she was content with the life her father had provided for the family. She lit the candle of ambition and hope for a better future, continuing her primary studies until she reached the ninth grade. Dec, 2022 Yemen Family Care Association (YFCA) Support Obstetric Emergencies to provide maternal, newborn and RH services at health facilities supporting CEMONC & BEMONC services UNFPA Health Ibtisam’s husband was unable to afford medical care for his wife’s pregnancy in a private hospital in spite of his continuous efforts in developing his situation and meeting his young wife needs. Ibtisam heard about the emergency obstetric center and the care they provided to pregnant women during a campaign to distribute family planning methods in that village, and she was pleasant to know about such a service. The following day, she was received at Dhi Al-Saffal hospital, and she was provided with health and psychology care throughout her pregnancy. She was monitored and followed up until the day of her child’s birth with care and attention to her condition. The happiness of Ibtisam and her family was indescribable, as the burden and expenses for medical care had been alleviated, and they had been given free treatment. Dhi Al-Saffal Rural Hospital offers reproductive health services and a basic medical package to over two thousand displaced people. Unfortunately, the United Nations Population Fund is the only support for the hospital, resulting in a lack of operational expenses, oil derivatives and treacherous roads. Consequently, to not have an enough fund is threating the existence of the hospital’s departments. Despite the obstacles previously mentioned, the hospital is wholeheartedly devoted to serve people of the area! Ibtisam spoke with heartfelt appreciation Just then, a young man proposed and Ibtisam found her candle of hope extinguished as she accepted reality and married him. A few months after, she became pregnant and was unaware of how to take care of herself and her fetus. Her husband worked in a blacksmith’s shop and their income was limited, unable to avail medical care in a private hospital
