Farmers Branch TIGERS 2006 Football and Cheerleading |
|
| Home |
Farmers Branch has supported youth sports for many decades. Early in 1998 interested adults were brought together to form a youth football organization. Farmers Branch Youth Football and Cheerleading Association is the result. Established as an registered Non-Profit organization to provide the opportunity for boys and girls to experience football and cheerleading in a safe, positive environment. Games are scheduled with the F.A.M.I.L.Y. , providing structure and officials for all games. Adult participation is purely voluntary. Practicing three evenings a week, games are scheduled on Saturdays. We are teaching sports skills and teamwork in an atmosphere of physical fitness and sportsmanship. Youth ages 5 through 12 that live or go to school in the city of Farmers Branch, will participate from August through December each year.
In the '50s it started, as the Bombers and did well, with Orange and White colors. In the '70s it split, and the Road Runners began, with Black and White uniforms. Around '80 they came back together, and became the Bengal's, with Orange and Black as their colors. Mid '80s they split again, this time the new group took the name Bomber Football, and used the High School colors of blue and white. In 1998 the City of Farmers Branch brought them together again, and they became the Tigers, using blue and orange as their colors. This history is currently being detailed by those that were there, and will be filled out as it becomes available. If you were there, or know some of the details, we would like to include the happy parts here.
